President’s Message
It is truly an honor to be the 69th President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Greater Philadelphia. I have been an active member of this organization for over 25 years having served +20 years on the Education Committee in various capacities and 8 years on the Board of Governors.
I would first like to thank the current slate of Officers, Board of Governors and our Executive Director for their dedication and service to this organization. Without their commitment, we will not achieve our objectives.
The theme of my term in office will be “a new beginning”. We must strive to fulfill our organizations mission statement which is to …” create an environment that enables our membership to invest in communities and achieve their business objectives by developing innovative business tools, educating and training industry professionals, providing a gathering place for the sharing of ideas, acting as the industry’s voice on legislative and regulatory issues and developing open and fair standards and practices for the industry”.
We will have four major objectives during my term in office. Our first objective will be to increase the membership in our organization. As a result of consolidations, mergers and companies exiting our industry, our organization has experienced declining membership over the past several years. A challenge to the membership, the Board of Governor’s and to me will be to increase our active membership. Please consider the benefits of maintaining your current membership, renewing your prior membership or becoming a new member of our organization.
Our second objective will be to reaffirm our recognition that home ownership is a vital aspect of our community and economy. Our organization must work in every way to provide home ownership opportunities for everyone. I believe that this will not only help us achieve our founder’s vision for our association, but, provide many opportunities for our members.
Our third objective will be to focus on improving our efforts to effectively communicate with our members. On a timely basis we will provide up-to-date industry information, including legislative and regulatory changes and education and networking opportunities.
Our fourth objective will be that each member becomes active in our organization by joining one of the seven association committees and participating in our networking and educational events. The committees are Membership, Social, Finance & Budget, Legislative, Education, Commercial Lending and a newly formed Marketing and Communications Committee.
The next several years will continue to be a challenging time in our industry. As has been the case in past, we will learn from our experiences and go forward to provide home ownership opportunities so that the American Dream can continue to be available to everyone.
